About Aline

Dr. Aline Arouca, PhD

Functional Clinical Nutritionist and Sports Dietitian

A sports enthusiast since adolescence, I opened my private practice as soon as I graduated in Nutrition. Since 2000 I have worked with athletes and clinical patients, helping them reach their best health through a deeper understanding of their habits and their choices.

From 2015 to 2021 I devoted myself to a PhD in Public Health at Ghent University. My thesis showed that strong adherence to the Mediterranean diet reduced inflammation in European adolescents — part of the HELENA study, across nine European countries including Belgium. At the end of 2021 I became a Doctor of Health Sciences.

What interests me is the relationship between lifestyle — diet, physical activity, sedentary behaviour, sleep — and disease. Disease tends to appear where genetic predisposition meets unhelpful food and lifestyle choices, or foods the body does not tolerate well, which can trigger an inflammatory response.

I will take care of your case considering your biochemical individuality, your lifestyle, your preferences and your routine.
